The Lower Brushy Creek Water Control & Improvement District is committed to transparency, accountability, and clear communication with residents, landowners, and other stakeholders. Elections

Information related to Board of Directors elections — including election notices, candidate guidelines, and ballot applications — is provided here in accordance with state requirements:

About the Elected Position:

The directors are paid $150 per meeting attended, which include regular monthly meetings held on dates approved on the meeting calendar and committee meetings that are scheduled as needed. Directors may not exceed $7,200 per year, as this is not a full time paid position. Sometimes the meetings can be lengthy, and preparation is required through reviewing background materials.



Qualifications:

The following is a list of requirements for candidacy (§51.072 Texas Water Code):

  • Be a United States citizen;
  • Be 18 years of age;
  • Be a resident citizen of the State of Texas, and either own land subject to taxation in the District or be a qualified voter within the District.

Director Terms:

Lower Brushy Creek Water Control and Improvement District is composed of five (5) Directors, elected at large. Each serve four (4) year terms and are elected by qualified voters of the District. To verify you own property within the district, search address on the Williamson County Appraisal District website and verify that you are paying taxes to Lower Brushy Creek.



Director Term Expiration Dates:

  • May 2030 - 3 positions
  • May 2028 - 2 positions
  • May 2026 - 3 positions



Reporting:

Filing deadlines for Campaign Finance Reports(Instructions) are:

  1. 30-day pre-election report
  2. 8-day pre-election report
  3. 15th day after campaign treasurer appointment (Officeholder Only)
  4. Exceeded Modified Reporting Limit ($1,110)
  5. Runoff
  6. July 15th to terminate the campaign

Property Taxes

Lower Brushy Creek WCID publishes adopted tax rates, notices, and hearing information in compliance with Texas Truth-in-Taxation requirements. Current and historical tax-related documents are available below for public review.

Budgets & Audit Reports

Annual budgets, financial statements, and audit reports are provided to demonstrate how district funds are allocated and managed each fiscal year. These records support financial transparency and responsible stewardship of public resources.

  • Open Records Policy: Texas Government Code, Chapter 552, gives you the right to access government records; and an officer for public information and the officer’s agent may not ask why you want them. All government information is presumed to be available to the public. Certain exceptions may apply to the disclosure of the information. Governmental bodies shall promptly release requested information that is not confidential by law, either constitutional, statutory, or by judicial decision, or information for which an exception to disclosure has not been sought.
